Tuloy-tuloy na bloodless war on drugs in PBBM magreresulta sa maraming pagkumpiska, pag-aresto

Walang pag-aalinlangan ang isang matataas na opisyal ng Kamara de Representantes na ang anti-drug operations ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ay mas magiging matagumpay sa pinaigting na operasyon ng mga otoridad subalit mas konti ang inaasahang mamamatay.

“The 52 percent significant drop in the number of fatalities, as reported by PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority) is really a welcome development. For several years, we have been the subject of human rights abuses in this part of the world,” ani Antipolo City 2nd District Rep. Romeo M. Acop, vice chairperson ng House Committee on Dangerous Drugs na pinamumunuuan ni Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers.

Inatasan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang kongresista mula sa Antipolo, na isang retiradong police general, na tulungan si Barbers at Sta. Rosa City Lone District (Laguna) Rep. Dan Fernandez, ang chairperson ng House Committee on Public Order and Safety, sa pagtalakay sa mga isyu na mayroong kinalaman sa kampanya ng gobyerno laban sa ipinagbabawal na gamot.

“We need to craft legislation that would further improve the Philippine National Police’s as well as their other counterparts’ abilities to address effectively – with zero casualty in mind – in going after the drug lords, with the hope of reducing, if not totally eradicating, this menace,” dagdag pa ni Acop, na vice chairperson din ng komite ni Fernandez.

Si Acop ang chairman ng House Committee on Transportation.

Nauna rito ay iniulat ng PDEA na bumaba ng 52 porsyento ang bilang ng mga namatay sa anti-illegal drugs operations. Bumaba ang bilang ng mga nasawi sa 19 mula Hulyo 2022 hanggang Setyembre 2023 mula sa 40 mula 2020 hanggang 2021.

Mayorya ng miyembro ng Kamara ang nagpahayag ng pagsuporta sa “bloodless anti-drug campaign” ng administrasyon kung saan umabot na sa P30 bilyon ang nasabit na ipinagbabawal na gamot mula ng magsimula ang termino ni Pang. Marcos.

“This amount can most definitely finance the elections and victory of drug lords in our political arena,” sabi ni Barbers.

“It’s a bloodless war. It shows that we can slay the dragon that is the drug menace without lives' being lost. Violence, if it can be avoided by our law enforcers in the pursuit of suspects, can result to less anger, resentment, desire for vengeance from our people and will likewise negate attention and condemnation from international watchdog groups,” dagdag pa nito. 

Ang kabuuang halaga at bilang ng nasamsam ng pamahalaan ay mula sa datos ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Bureau of Investigation at Philippine National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group.

Kasama sa 4.4 tonelada ng ipinagbabawal na gamot na nakumpiska ang 200 kilo ng shabu extender na narekober sa Mabalacat, Pampanga noong Agosto; 560 kilo sa isang warehouse sa Mexico, Pampanga noong Setyembre, at 323 kilo na naharang sa Manila International Container Port sa Maynila noong Oktobre 4.

Kasama rin sa mga nasamsam na iligal na droga ang halos tatlong toneladang pinatuyong dahon ng marijuana.

Pinapurihan ni Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. (Pampanga) ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno sa kanilang matagumpay na mga operasyon. Siya ay kabilang sa mga kongresista na sumaksi sa pagsira ng PDEA sa mga ipinagbabawal na gamot noong nakaraang linggo sa Cavite.

Itinulak ni Gonzales ang pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon ng Kamara matapos itong magpahayag ng pagkabahala dahil sa kanyang distrito umano idinaraan ang ipinagbabawal na gamot.

“Our inquiry is in consonance with the bloodless anti-drug campaign of President Marcos which has so far netted a whopping 4.4 tons of shabu worth P30 billion since the Chief Executive started his six-year term on July 1 last year (2022),” aniya.

Suportado rin ni House Deputy Majority Leader Janette Garin, kinatawan ng Iloilo ang bloodless war on drugs ng gobyerno.

Sinabi ni Garin na sa nakaraang 16 na buwan ng pamumuno ni Pan. Marcos,  4.4 tonelada ng shabu na may street value na hindi baba sa P30 bilyon ang nakumpiska.

“That's 4,400 kilos of illegal drugs no longer on our streets. This means P30 billion is no longer feeding the coffers of drug peddlers, traffickers, and kingpins. Instead, this money is put to other uses, possibly in more productive endeavors like feeding families and attending to other family needs,” ani Garin na isang doktor at dating Health Secretary.
