Liderato ng Kamara suportado ang pagpapalakas ang kakayahang pangdepensa ng bansa sa gitna ng umiinit na tensyon sa WPs

Muling tiniyak ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang buong suporta ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso sa pagtaguyod ng Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept, sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa gitna ng nagpapatuloy na agresibong aksyon ng China sa West Philippine Sea (WPS). 

Sa makasaysayang talumpati sa 21st International Institute for Strategic Studies-Shangri-La Dialogue na ginanap sa Singapore, sinabi ng Pangulong Marcos na naninindigan ang Pilipinas na bigyang tugon ang mga kinakaharap na hamon sa pamamagitan ng dayalogo at diplomasya.

Sinabi rin ng Pangulo na ang ginagawang pagpapalakas ng kakayahan ng Pilipinas upang pangalagaan at iginiit ang karapatan ng bansa sa nasasakupan nito, global commons, sa pamamagitan ng sinasaad ng Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept ng bansa.

“The House of Representatives stands firmly behind President Marcos' vision for a comprehensive archipelagic defense strategy. This is not merely a matter of policy but a solemn duty to uphold the integrity of our nation and the rights of our people,” ayon kay Speaker Romualdez.

Binigyan diin pa ni Speaker Romualdez, pinuno ng Kamara na mayroong mahigit 300 kinatawan, ang kahalagahan ng matatag at nagkakaisang estratehiya upang proteksyunan ang soberanya at mga yamang dagat ng bansa.

“We in the House are prepared to pass the necessary legislation and allocate resources that will fortify our archipelagic defense and ensure that our armed forces are well-equipped to meet any challenges. This is a collective effort that requires the full support of all branches of government," dagdag pa ni Romualdez.

Paliwanag pa ng mambabatas, ang Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept ay naaayon sa international laws, kabilang na ang 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) at ang 2016 Arbitral Award na kumikilala sa karapatan ng Pilipinas sa pinagtatalunang teritoryo.

“In an era where the security landscape is rapidly evolving, it is imperative that we build a defense framework capable of addressing both traditional and non-traditional security threats. Our archipelagic nature demands a defense strategy that can effectively cover our extensive maritime domain," paliwanag ni Romualdez.

Pinagtibay din ng pinuno ng Kamara ang pagsunod ng Pilipinas sa pandaigdigang batas at ang mapayapang resolusyon sa mga alitan. Gayundin ang paninindigan ng bansa sa West Philippine Sea na nakabatay sa sinasaad ng UNCLOS na pinagtibay pa ng 2016 Arbitral Award.

"We have defined our territory and maritime zones in accordance with international law, and we continue to advocate for the rule of law in resolving maritime disputes. Our legal and moral standing gives us the strength to defend our sovereign rights against any form of aggression," dagdag pa ng kongresista.

Naniniwala din si Romualdez sa kahalagahan ng diplomasya at pagtutulungan ng bawat bansa. Maging ang pagsuporta sa pagkakaisa ng ASEAN at ang pagbibigay ng lubos na atensyon sa pagpapairal ng code of conduct sa South China Sea nang naayon sa itinatakda ng batas.

Panawagan din ni Romualdez ang pambansang pagkakaisa sa iba’t ibang hamong na kinakaharap ng bansa dulot ng mga bantang panlabas. Hinimok din niya ang mga Filipino na magkaisang manindigan sa pagtatanggol sa kasarinlan at katatagan ng teritoryo ng bansa.

Speaker Romualdez also called for national unity in facing the challenges posed by external threats. He urged all Filipinos to stand together in defense of the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"Our strength lies in our unity. As we navigate these turbulent waters, let us remember that the defense of our nation is a shared responsibility. We must all work together to protect what is rightfully ours and secure a peaceful and prosperous future for our children," ayon pa kay Speaker Romualdez. (END)
