Iligal na aksyon ng China sa WPS kinondena ng Lakas-CMD

KINONDENA ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) na pinamumunuan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang mga iligal na aksyon ng China sa West Philippine Sea.

Ayon sa Lakas-CMD, ang pinakamalaking partido sa Kamara de Representantes sa kasalukuyan na mayroong 73 kasaping kongresista, malinaw na nilalabag ng China ang mga international law sa mga ginagawa nitong pangha-harass sa mga sasakyang pangdagat ng Pilipinas sa WPS.

“We, the members of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), condemn in the strongest possible terms the illegal and blatant actions of the China Coast Guard and the Chinese maritime militia last October 22, 2023 in the waters near the vicinity of the Ayungin Shoal,” sabi ng pahayag ng Lakas-CMD.

Sa naturang insidente, nabangga ng sasakyang pangdagat ng China ang isang bangka na kinontra ng Philippine Navy para magdala ng suplay sa mga sundalong nakadestino sa BRP Sierra Madre. Nabangga rin ng barko ng Chinese maritime militia ang MRRV Cabra ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

“Said actions seriously endangered the lives and safety of Filipinos on board said vessels. The illegal and dangerous maneuvers of the Chinese vessels clearly violated the international conventions on the prevention of collisions at seas,” ayon pa sa pahayag.

Ayon sa Lakas-CMD nangyari ang insidente sa loob ng 200 nautical miles Exclusive Economic  Zone batay sa United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). 

“China's continuing intrusion and aggressive stance constitutes a stark affront to our nation's sovereign rights over our waters and pose a direct threat to Filipino lives. Actions that undermine regional and global peace and cooperation are incompatible with the principles of a free and harmonious international community,” ayon pa sa pahayag ng partido.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to a rules-based international order and wholeheartedly support and endorse the July 2016 arbitral award which unequivocally recognizes Philippine sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea,” saad pa nito. 

Nanawagan ang Lakas-CMD sa Chinese government na itigil ang kanilang agresibong aksyon sa WPS na kanilang inaangking kahit na malinaw na ito ay Exclusive Economic Zone ng Pilipinas.

“Finally, we the members of the Lakas-CMD, express our full and unqualified support to President Ferdinand R.
