Pinuri ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang pahayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. kaugnay ng kahalagahan na agad maamyendahan ang “restrictive” economic provision ng Konstitusyon.
“The President made it clear that these provisions hinder the entry of foreign investments and the potential for faster and inclusive economic growth, which in turn could translate into a better life for every Filipino,” ani Speaker Romualdez.
“We are happy that he also took note of our consistent advocacy in the House of Representatives for changing those restrictive provisions for more than three decades since the 8th Congress, or since 36-37 years ago,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara na mayroong mahigit 300 miyembro.
Pinuri rin ni Speaker Romualdez ang pagtiyak ng Pangulo na suportado nito ang reporma na limitado lamang sa economic provisions at wala ng iba pa.
Ang pagsuporta ng Pangulo sa pagreporma sa Konstitusyon ay ipinahayag nito sa kanyang talumpati sa pagdiriwang ng Constitution Day na inorganisa ng Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa) at Manila Overseas Press Club nitong Huwebes ng gabi sa Shangrila Hotel sa Makati City.
“At the risk of being makulit, we have been saying that we do not advocate any political amendment,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez, pangulo ng Philconsa. (END)
