RTR’s PT dept head proud of landing in top
10 licensure exams, competing with bigger schools
THE head of the Department of Physical Therapy of the Remedios T. Romualdez Medical Foundation on Thursday expressed pride in the remarkable showing of their students who landed in the top two spots and earned four places in the June 2024 Physical Therapists Board Examinations.
Jay Anthony Cañete, head of the PT department of RTR, said being proud of the feats of Michael Nivera, Bien Yamon, Clarence Noguerra and Sigfred Jay Bernales, the Top 1, 2, 8 and 10, respectively, is a “big understatement” to express how he feels about the monumental achievement.
“Dito po sa PT department ng RTR, sobrang proud kami sa latest batch ng nag-take ng licensure exams, lalong-lalo na sa apat na nakatuntong ng Top 10. Hindi kami makapaniwala na pati Top 1 and 2 ay nakuha namin kasi we were just hoping lang na makapasa ang aming board takers,” Cañete said.
The RTR also registered a whopping 96.55% batting average for board passers, one of the highest in the country, as 28 of its 29 students passed the PT licensure examinations last June.
“Kaya malaki po ang pasasalamat namin sa Panginoon na we were able to compete with bigger and more established schools, especially in Metro Manila. Nagbubunga ang aming pagsisikap na makapaghatid ng de kalidad na edukasyon," Cañete said.
Nivera, who earned the highest score in the licensure examinations with 91.95%, said he did not expect to be in the top spot of the exams, but he really did burn the midnight oil in preparing for it.
“Dream come true po ito para sa akin. Nagpapasalamat po ako sa RTR dahil tunay na quality education ang aming natanggap mula sa pamantasan. Sobra lang po akong full of gratitude para sa lahat ng naniwala sa akin,” Nivera said.
Earlier, Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog Rep. Yedda K. Romualdez both expressed pride and joy at the great achievement of RTR students in the recent PT licensure examinations, as the school is located in the Speaker’s hometown of Tacloban City.
“Lubos nating ikinagagalak ang tagumpay na ito ng ating mahal na pamantasan sa ating hometown sa Tacloban City! It gives us great joy and immense pride that RTR, as we endearingly call the school, has been in the Top 10 for two consecutive years now in the PT licensure exams,” Speaker Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives, earlier said.
“This is truly a proud moment for our people. Their success has not only put our region on the map when it bested even the larger and more established schools, but it also put the Waraynon spirit in the spotlight!” Speaker Romualdez added.
Rep. Yedda Romualdez echoed the sentiments of Speaker Romualdez, saying she also felt great pride and joy at the achievement of the RTR, saying it has accomplished “a monumental achievement.”
“As a representative of the Waray people and a supporter of our local educational institutions, I am incredibly proud of the RTR’s achievement as it underscores the quality of education and training provided by the institution and the dedication of its students and faculty,” she said.
“Your success demonstrates that excellence is not confined to the largest and most well-known schools. It proves that with quality education, dedicated faculty and hardworking students, any institution can achieve greatness,” she added. (END)
