Duterte hinimok na magsampa ng kaso sa halip na magparatang 

Hinimok ng mga lider ng supermajority coalition sa Kamara de Representantes si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na magsampa ng kaso sa halip na magparatang ng walang inilalabas na ebidensya laban sa institusyon na sumuporta sa administrasyon nito.

Nagsama-sama ang mga lider ng iba’t ibang partido sa pagdepensa sa imahe ng Kamara na nadungisan umano sa paratang ni Duterte na mayroon pa rin itong pork barrel, na matagal ng ipinagbawal ng Korte Suprema.

Ginawa ni Duterte ang paratang habang ipinagtatanggol ang anak na si Vice President Sara Duterte sa paggamit nito ng P125 milyong confidential fund na naubos sa loob lamang ng 11 araw noong 2022.

“It is critical to remember that the 'pork barrel' system, which former President Duterte alluded to, has been deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Our Members are firmly committed to respecting and upholding this ruling,” sabi ng pahayag ng mga lider ng iba’t ibang partido.

“Rather than making sweeping allegations in the media, we advise the former president, if he has tangible evidence of wrongdoing, to present it to the appropriate authorities,” sabi pa sa pahayag na inilabas ni House Secretary-general Reginald Velasco.

Sa susunod na taon ay humihingi ang Office of the Vice President ng P500 milyong confidential fund at P150 milyon naman ang Department of Education. Ang dalawang ahensya ay pinamumunuan ni VP Sara.

Sa anim na taong pamumuno ni Duterte mula 2016 hanggang 2022, ilang beses itong nagpahayag ng double meaning na biro na kanyang dudukutin at totoryurin ang mga tauhan ng COA at ihuhulog ang mga ito sa hagdan upang hindi makapaglabas ng negatibong findings kung papaano nito ginamit ang kanyang pondo.

“Don’t comply with that COA son of a bi***! Nothing will happen there. That’s what I hate about flagging. It creates a conundrum and you know that it’s political season. Everyone has tirades, everyone has criticisms. These newspapers act as if they are the epitome of propriety and decency,” sabi ni Duterte noong 2021 ng kanyang ipagtanggol si Health secretary Francisco Duque III. 

 

“You (COA) make a report. Do not flag and do not publish it because it will condemn the agency or the person that you are flagging. The flagging is spelled flagged, what you are doing is flogging. Do not just flag. And then no one gets jailed, nothing happens,” sabi pa noon ni Duterte.

Ang supercoalition ng Kamara ay binubuo ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, Nationalist People’s Coalition, Nacionalista Party, National Unity Party, PDP-Laban, Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc., at iba pa.

Inulit ng partido na ang desisyon na ilipat ang confidential fund ng mga civilian agency patungo sa mga ahensya na kasama ang mandato sa pagbibigay ng proteksyon sa West Philippine Sea ay alang-alang sa kapakanan ng bansa.
