KAMPANYA PARA MAPABABA ANG INFLATION, IPAGPAPATULOY NG KAMARA—SPEAKER ROMUALDEZ

Ipagpapatuloy ng Kamara de Representantes ang pakikipagtulungan sa administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. upang mapababa ang presyo ng pagkain at iba pang pangunahing bilihin, ayon kay Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

Ito ang inihayag ni Speaker Romualdez matapos ilabas ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ang ulat nito kaugnay ng pagbaba ng inflation rate ng bansa sa 4.1 porsyento, na mas mababa sa 4.9 porsyento na naitala noong Oktubre.

Sinabi rin ni Speaker Romualdez na mananatiling nakatuon ang atensyon ng Kamara sa pagbalangkas at pagpapatupad ng mga polisiya para mapababa ang presyo ng bilihin at maging matatag at maunlad ang ekonomiya.

Tinukoy ng House leader na ang malaking pagbaba sa inflation ay dahil sa mga hakbang na ipinatupad ng Pangulong Marcos na siya ring sinuportahan ng Kamara.

Kasama dito ang ipinatupad na price cap sa bigas noong Setyembre.

"We will continue to monitor the prices of rice and other staples. If we notice an unreasonable and unjustified increase, we will not hesitate to recommend to the President the reimposition of a price limit," saad ni Speaker Romualdez.)

Ayon kay Speaker Romualdez nakakatanggap siya ng mga reklamo na ang mas mangilan-ngilan na lang ang nagbebenta ng murang halaga ng bigas sa mga pamilihan habang buhos naman ang mga bigas na ibinebenta sa halagang P50-P60 kada kilo.

Aniya batay sa ulat ng Department of Agriculture (DA), ang mga magsasaka ay katatapos lamang mag-ani nitong Oktubre.

"So we see no reason for increasing rice prices unless traders take advantage of the Christmas season to increase profits. This reeks of profiteering, which the law prohibits," diin niya

Sa panig ng Kamara, tinuran ng Speaker na naglunsad sila ng mga pagsisiyasat para masawata ang hoarding, profiteering, manipulasyon ng presyo, smuggling, at kahalintulad na gawain at ayusin ang mga nag-iipit sa value chain. 

"We will promptly exercise our oversight power of investigation and calling out the concerned agencies as the situation requires because we are always cognizant of our duty to protect our people from illegal activities," giit nito.

Nangako rin ang lider ng mahigit 300 mambabatas na palalawigin at pabibilisin ang implementasyon ng Cash Assistance and Rice Distribution (CARD) program na sagot sa hamon ng Pang. Marcos sa Kapulungan na magbigay ng pabigas para sa mga mahihirap.

"We will aim to reach more areas, especially remote communities, as soon as possible to help more people. We hope this project would ultimately have a favorable impact on food prices and poverty in general," sabi niya.

Ikinalugod naman ng House Speaker ang balitang ito na may malaking pagbaba sa inflation na tugma umano sa 4-4.8% na pagtaya ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

"This positive trend is primarily attributed to a slowdown in the increase of food prices and a reduction in transport costs, thanks to the decline in fuel prices," sabi niya. 

Partikular dito ang food at non-alcoholic beverages sector na bumaba sa 5.7 porsyento noong Nobyembre mula sa 7 porsyento noong Oktubre.

May pagbaba din aniya ang sektor ng transportasyon na may 0.8 porsyento na taunang pagbaba, mula sa dating 1 porsyento noong Oktubre 2023.

Ang Core inflation naman, maliban sa ilang pagkain at energy item, ay bumagal sa 4.7 percent noong Nobyembre mula sa 5.3 percent noong nakaraang buwan.

"This recent development is a testament to the collective efforts and resilience of the Filipino people, alongside the government's commitment to stabilizing our economy and improving the living standards of every Filipino," ani Romualdez.

"We began the year facing a 14-year inflation peak of 8.7 percent in January, driven by surges in food and fuel prices. Recognizing the urgency of this issue, as reflected in the September Pulse Asia survey where inflation was cited as the most pressing concern, our focus in addressing this problem has been strong and consistent," saad niya.

Katuwang ang Department of Social Welfare and Development, nakapamahagi na ang CARD teams ng bigas at tulong pinansyal sa libong benepisyaryo sa Metro Manila at ilang probinsya kasama na ang Laguna, Bukidnon, at Isabela. 

“Nabuo ang programang ito bilang sagot sa hamon ng ating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa Kongreso na tumulong kung paano mabibigyan ng mura at magandang klase ng bigas ang ating mga komunidad,” saad ni Speaker Romualdez.

Inilunsad ang CARD sa Metro Manila sa 33 legislative districts, na may 10,000 mahihirap at bulnerableng benepisyaryo na may inisyal na 330,000 na benepisyaryo.

Kada benepisyaryo ay nakatanggap ng hindi bababa sa P2,000: P950 ay para sa  25 kilo ng bigas sa halagang P38 kada kilo habang ang nalalabi ay para sa iba pang pagkain

Sakop ng programa ang mga senior citizens, disabled persons, solo parents, at indigenous people.

Target ng CARD na matulungan ang libong mahihirap na Pilipino sa legislative districts sa buong bansa. (END)
