PAG-RELEASE NG NCCA GRANTS PARA SA MGA ALAGAD NG SINING, PINABIBILISAN SA KAMARA

Habang ipinagdiriwang ang National Arts Month ngayong Pebrero, ikinadismaya ng chairman ng House Committee on Creative Industry and Performing Arts na si Rep. Christopher de Venecia ang delayed na release ng grants mula sa National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) para sa mga alagad ng sining.

 

Sinabi ng kongresista na kailangang tiyakin ng NCCA na maayos at mabilis ang pagpo-proseso at pagpapalabas ng grants para di madehado ang mga pinoy artists at madismaya ang mga tumutulong na private partners.

 

“[NCCA grants release and process] needs to be speedier so that private partners can be empowered to put up more platforms for artists to showcase their work across the archipelago,” diin ni De Venecia.

 

Paliwanag ni De Venecia, dahil sa kabagalan ng NCCA, ang mga artist na recipient ng grants pa tuloy ang nag-aabono  ng mga kailangang bayaran.

 

“Due to the late release of grants from the NCCA to our artists for their participation in art fairs, our artists resort to advancing payments, relying on reimbursements and subjecting themselves to the tedious requirements needed in order to claim these,” ani De Venecia.

 

Hiniling din ng mambabatas sa NCCA at sa malapit nang maitatag na Philippine Creative Industries Development Council na bumuo na ng isang database sa lahat ng mga gallery sa Pilipinas para sa impormasyon ng publiko, magbigay ng mga oportunidad para sa collaboration at co-production, at magpayabong ng arts residency programs.

 

Idinagdag pa ng kongresista na may kakulangan sa institusyonal na suporta para sa arts education sa  mga paaralan at mas mababang priyoridad ng edukasyon sa sining kumpara sa STEM (science, mathematics, engineering, and mathematics) subjects.
