“The harassment, blocking, execution of dangerous maneuvers, and deployment of water cannons against unarmed vessels engaged in routine operations is not only dangerous but also a blatant disregard for the diplomatic processes we, as a nation, have consistently and firmly advocated for. It is a clear attempt to undermine the peace and stability of the region, and it cannot be tolerated,” ani Speaker Romualdez, lider ng mahigit 300 kongresista.
“We stand firm in our conviction that might does not make right. The Philippines, though a smaller nation, will not be cowed or bullied into submission,” saad pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
“The Philippines seeks peace, but let it be known that we will defend our rights with steadfast determination,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara. (END)

Speaker Romualdez condemns Chinese coast guard’s actions in WPS, urges int’l support
SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Friday strongly condemned the recent aggressive actions of the Chinese coast guard against a Philippine resupply boat in the West Philippine Sea, labeling it an "unprovoked act of hostility" that directly violates Philippine rights and international law, notably the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
“The harassment, blocking, execution of dangerous maneuvers, and deployment of water cannons against unarmed vessels engaged in routine operations is not only dangerous but also a blatant disregard for the diplomatic processes we, as a nation, have consistently and firmly advocated for. It is a clear attempt to undermine the peace and stability of the region, and it cannot be tolerated,” Speaker Romualdez, the leader of the 300 plus-strong House of Representatives, said.
Demanding an immediate halt to these intimidations, Speaker Romualdez urged China to honor the 2016 Hague tribunal ruling that invalidated its expansive claims over the West Philippine Sea.
“We stand firm in our conviction that might does not make right. The Philippines, though a smaller nation, will not be cowed or bullied into submission,” the Speaker stressed.
Calling upon the international community, especially ASEAN neighbors and allies, Speaker Romualdez urged solidarity in denouncing these actions and upholding principles like freedom of navigation, the rule of law, and the preservation of peace in the region.
The House chief affirmed that the Philippines is prepared to take all necessary measures, including the filing of a diplomatic protest, to safeguard its sovereign rights and ensure the safety of its citizens.
“The Philippines seeks peace, but let it be known that we will defend our rights with steadfast determination,” he concluded. (END)
