Kinondena ng mga pinuno ng Kamara de Representantes si Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri sa pananakot nito na magkakaroon ng ‘constitutional crisis’ sa halip na makipagdayalogo kay Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez upang matugunan ang panawagan na amyendahan ang Konstitusyon.

“It is disheartening to see Senate President Zubiri jump to the conclusion of a constitutional crisis instead of embracing the spirit of collaboration put forth by Speaker Romualdez. We need dialogue, not doomsday predictions,” ani House Majority Leader at Zamboanga City Rep. Manuel Jose "Mannix" M. Dalipe.

Sinabi naman ni House Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio "Dong" Gonzales Jr. na sa halip na itaguyod ang pagkakaisa at konstruktibong pakikipagtulungan mas inatupag pa ni Zubiri ang manakot na magkakaroon ng krisis sa konstitusyon dahil sa people's initiative.

“This is a time for dialogue, not escalating tensions,” giit pa ni Gonzales.

Nauna rito nagpadala ng liham si Speaker Romualdez kay Zubiri upang ipahayag ang kahandaan ng Kamara na suportahan ang inihain nitong Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No. 6., na naglalayong amyendahan ang Konstitusyon sa pamamagitan ng Constituent Assembly.

Sa tugon ni Zubiri, nagbababla ito ng posibleng pagkakaroon ng constitutional crisis dahil sa pagsusulong umano ng Kamara ng people’s initiative para sa pag-amyenda ng Konstitusyon. Ilang ulit nang iginiit ni Speaker Romualdez na walang kinalaman ang Kamara dito. 

Iginiit pa ng lider ng Senado na ang patuloy na paglikom ng mga lagda para sa people's initiative ay hindi lamang depektibo kundi labag din sa Konstitusyon.

Iginiit naman ni Deputy Speaker at Quezon Rep. David "Jayjay" Suarez na mahalaga ang diwa ng pagtutulungan sa pagitan ng Kamara at Senado para makamit ang hinahangad na reporma sa Konstitusyon na para sa ikabubuti ng bansa. 

"Speaker Romualdez's gesture of collaboration should be met with an open mind and a willingness to explore common ground. It is disappointing to witness a swift dismissal rather than an embrace of the opportunity for meaningful dialogue,” ayon kay Suarez.

Nagbabala rin si Suarez sa maaaring kahinatnan ng sinasabing sitwasyon ni Zubiri.

"We risk further polarization and gridlock by prematurely labeling the situation as a constitutional crisis. The responsibility lies with both chambers to navigate this complex terrain with prudence and a commitment to the democratic process,” ani Suarez.

Sang-ayon naman si Dalipe sa opinyon ni Suarez at binigyang-diin na “ang krisis sa konstitusyon ay hindi ang landas na dapat nating tahakin.”

“Instead of fueling discord, we must engage in constructive dialogue to find a consensus that addresses the economic concerns without jeopardizing the stability of our constitutional framework,” punto ni Dalipe.

Binigyang-diin din ni Gonzales ang kahalagahan na magkaroon ng pagtutulungan kaugnay ng pag-aamyenda sa Saligang Batas ng bansa.

“Our duty as public servants is to safeguard the interests of the people and the integrity of our institutions. Resorting to a constitutional crisis undermines the very essence of our democratic values,” giit ni Gonzales.

Dagdag pa ni Gonzales: “Let us not be hasty in our actions. We owe it to the Filipino people to uphold the rule of law and ensure that any amendments are made within the bounds of our Constitution. This requires a collaborative effort and a commitment to preserving the democratic foundations that define our nation.” (END)
